Brazilian passport holders can enter Kazakhstan without a visa for stays up to 30 days. This covers tourism and business visits. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Kazakhstan
Your passport needs at least 2 blank pages for entry stamps. Kazakhstan does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date — just enough to cover your stay. Airlines may still ask for 6 months, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Kazakhstan
Immigration officers at Almaty and Nur-Sultan airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket within your 30-day visa-free stay. Have a printed or digital copy ready. Overstaying even one day incurs a fine of about 10,000 KZT (~$22 USD) paid at the airport.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Airbnb bookings are accepted if they show the full address.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Kazakhstan does not publish a fixed minimum amount, but carrying around $50–$100 USD per day in cash or a credit card statement helps. ATMs are widely available in cities, but carry some cash for taxis and smaller shops.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's close to expiring, renew it before you travel. Airlines may also deny boarding if your passport doesn't meet this requirement.
No registration needed for short stays
Since the visa-free stay is only 30 days and not extendable, you don't need to register with migration authorities. Just make sure you leave on time.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport or land border
You'll go through passport control. Major airports are Almaty (ALA) and Nursultan Nazarbayev (NQZ). At the booth, hand over your passport and any supporting documents if asked. The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date and allowed stay.
2
Present your documents
The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation proof. Have them ready on your phone or printed. They'll check your passport validity and blank page. If everything's fine, you'll get the entry stamp.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim (if you checked bags), then proceed through customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. You're now free to enter Kazakhstan.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave Kazakhstan before the 30 days are up. Overstaying can result in fines and future entry bans.
You'll need to apply for a visa before traveling. Contact the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brasília or check their official website for visa types and requirements. There is no option to extend the visa-free period once you're in the country.
For stays under 30 days, no registration is required. If you stay longer (with a visa), you must register within 5 days. Since the visa-free period is only 30 days and not extendable, this doesn't apply to visa-free travelers.
Yes, you can enter by land from Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. The same visa-free rules apply. Make sure your passport has the required validity and blank pages. Land border crossings may have longer queues and less English signage.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll likely face a fine (around 10,000–20,000 KZT, roughly $20–$40 USD) and could be banned from re-entering Kazakhstan for up to 5 years. Always leave on time.
If you're staying airside (not passing through passport control) and your connecting flight is within 24 hours, you generally don't need a visa. But if you need to enter the country (e.g., to switch airports or stay overnight), the visa-free rules apply — up to 30 days.
No, there is no visa on arrival for Brazilian citizens. You either use the visa-free entry (up to 30 days) or apply for a visa in advance if you need a longer stay.
