Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid only for the period you plan to stay in Panama. Airlines sometimes enforce a 6-month validity rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Panama
Immigration officers at Tocumen International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket within the 90-day visa-free period. Have a printed or digital copy ready — airlines also check this at check-in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Keep a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host handy. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the immigration counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Evidence of sufficient money for your stay
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you can cover your expenses. Panama does not publish a minimum amount, but $500–$1,000 USD is a safe benchmark for a short trip.Recommended
6-month passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival date, you will be denied boarding. Renew your passport well in advance.
No visa, no fee, no forms
Brazilian passport holders don't need to apply for anything before traveling. Just show up with a valid passport and a return ticket. No tourist card, no arrival declaration, no payment at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Panama immigration
At Tocumen International Airport or any land border, join the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport, boarding pass, and return ticket ready. The officer will ask your purpose of visit and length of stay. Answer clearly: 'tourism' or 'business' for up to 90 days.
2
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the maximum stay, usually 90 days. Check the stamp before walking away — if it's less than 90 days, ask politely for clarification. Keep the stamp legible.
3
Exit the arrivals area
After the stamp, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. There is no arrival declaration form to fill out. You're free to enter Panama.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa-free entry is not extendable. You must leave Panama before the 90 days are up. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban. If you need more time, you'd have to leave and re-enter, but immigration may question frequent back-to-back visits.
Panama does not require a yellow fever vaccine for Brazilian travelers arriving directly from Brazil. However, if you've recently visited a country with yellow fever risk, such as parts of Africa or South America, you may be asked for proof. Check with your airline before departure.
You will likely be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry by Panamanian immigration. The 6-month rule is strictly enforced. Renew your passport before traveling.
No. The 90-day visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, or short-term visits only. Any paid work requires a work visa, which you must apply for in advance through a Panamanian embassy or consulate.
No. There is no tourist card or arrival fee for Brazilian passport holders. You simply present your passport and get stamped. No payment is required at immigration.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You may be fined around $50 to $100 depending on the duration and could face a temporary ban from re-entering Panama. Always leave on time or apply for an extension before your stay expires, though extensions are not available for visa-free entries.
No, Panama does not require proof of funds for Brazilian passport holders on visa-free entry. However, if you look like you might be working illegally or staying indefinitely, the officer may ask. Having a credit card or a few hundred dollars in cash is a good backup.
