30-day limit is strict — no extensions
Belize does not allow extensions for tourist stays. If you want to stay longer than 30 days, you must leave the country and re-enter. Overstaying even a day can result in fines and future entry problems.

When you enter Belize, you'll receive a small paper card. Keep it with your passport — you must return it to immigration when you depart. Losing it can cause delays at the airport.

Arrive at Belize airport or land border
At Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize City, or at any land border crossing from Mexico or Guatemala, join the queue for 'Foreign Passports'. Have your passport and return ticket ready.

Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport and return ticket. The officer will ask your purpose of visit (tourism is fine) and how long you're staying. Answer clearly.

Get your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with a 30-day tourist permit. Check the stamp before walking away — make sure the date is correct. You're now free to enter Belize.
