No visa on arrival — plan ahead
Swiss citizens cannot get a Ghana visa at the airport. You must have a visa before you fly. Apply at the Ghanaian embassy or consulate well in advance — don't leave it to the last minute.
Yellow fever certificate is mandatory
Without a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate, you will be refused entry into Ghana. Get vaccinated at least 10 days before travel and keep the certificate with your passport.
No visa extensions
Ghana does not allow visa extensions for Swiss passport holders. Make sure your visa covers your entire stay — overstaying can lead to fines or deportation.

Gather your documents
Collect your passport, photos, flight itinerary, hotel booking, bank statements, and yellow fever certificate. Make sure your passport has at least 6 months validity and 1 blank page.

Complete the application form
Download or pick up the Ghana visa application form from the embassy or consulate. Fill it out carefully — any errors can cause delays. Double-check your name and passport number.

Submit your application in person or by mail
Take your completed form and documents to the Ghanaian embassy or consulate in Switzerland (or the nearest one covering your region). Some embassies allow mail-in applications — check their website. Pay the fee at this point.

Once approved, you'll get a visa sticker in your passport. Check the dates and details. At Kotoka International Airport in Accra, go to the 'Visa' queue, present your passport and yellow fever certificate, and you'll be stamped in.
