Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Honduras
Your Swiss passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Honduras. Immigration officers at Toncontín Airport and other entry points check this closely. If your passport expires within your trip, you will be denied boarding in Zurich.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof you will leave Honduras within 90 days
Airlines check this at check-in in Switzerland and immigration officers in Honduras routinely ask for it. Have a printed or digital copy of your onward flight, bus ticket to Nicaragua, or any ticket out of the country. Without one, you may be refused entry and put on the next flight back.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration officers sometimes ask where you are staying. A printed hotel confirmation or a letter from a host with their address and phone number works. If you are backpacking, have the first night's booking ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Officers may ask how you will pay for your trip. Have a bank statement, credit card, or cash (at least $500 USD equivalent) ready. A Swiss bank statement from the last month is fine.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity before boarding. If you have less than 6 months remaining, you'll be denied boarding — even if Honduras would let you in.
Keep a digital copy of your documents
Save photos of your passport, return ticket, and hotel booking on your phone. If your documents are lost or stolen, this makes replacement much easier.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at immigration counter
At any Honduran airport (Toncontín in Tegucigalpa, Ramón Villeda Morales in San Pedro Sula, or Juan Manuel Gálvez in Roatán), join the foreign passport queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present documents
Hand over your passport and any requested documents (return ticket, hotel booking). The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the number of days allowed (usually 90). Check the stamp before leaving the counter.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. You're free to enter Honduras.
