Swiss passport holders need an eVisa to enter Togo. Apply online before you travel — there's no visa-on-arrival option. The eVisa covers tourism and short business trips, and as of 2026, the process is straightforward.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for your Togo eVisa at evisa.gouv.tg at least 3 business days before travel. The eVisa is valid for 15 days from the date of entry and costs around 35,000 XOF (approx. $60 USD). Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Lomé Airport will stamp you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your Swiss passport must be valid for at least the duration of your stay in Togo. Togo does not enforce the 6-month rule, but airlines may ask for at least 3 months validity beyond your departure date. Carry a photocopy of the bio page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration at Lomé Airport will ask for proof of a return or onward flight before they stamp you in. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready. Overstaying the 15-day eVisa period costs 10,000 XOF per day at the airport.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Togo helps speed through immigration. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays. A simple printout of your booking confirmation works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry at least 200,000 XOF (approx. $330 USD) in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. Immigration rarely checks, but you may need to show means of support if asked. ATMs in Lomé accept Visa and Mastercard.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate is mandatory
You will be asked for your yellow fever vaccination card at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (which costs time and money).
eVisa is for single entry only
The eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Togo and want to return, you'll need a new eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around 30,000 XOF, roughly €45) by card. You'll get a confirmation email within a few days.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival in Lomé.
3
Arrive at Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW)
After landing, head to immigration. Have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. The officer will stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags and walk through customs. There's a currency exchange and SIM card kiosk in the arrivals hall.
