What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-Visa online
Go to the official Kenya e-Visa website (etakenya.go.ke). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and upload a passport-style photo and your passport data page. Pay the fee (around $51 USD for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 2–3 business days, but can be faster. Print the approval email or save the PDF on your phone.
2
Prepare your documents for departure
Before you leave for the airport, have your passport, printed e-Visa (or digital copy), return ticket, and first-night accommodation confirmation ready. Airlines often check these at check-in. Keep a screenshot of your e-Visa on your phone in case you can't access email.
3
Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi) or Moi International Airport (Mombasa)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Visitors'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, e-Visa, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport with a 30-day entry permit. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes if you have all documents.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. You're now in Kenya.
