90-day limit applies to all Schengen countries
Your 90-day visa-free stay is for the entire Schengen Area, not just Liechtenstein. If you've already spent time in France, Germany, Italy, or other Schengen countries, that time counts toward your 90-day limit. Use the Schengen calculator to track your days.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
Liechtenstein does not have its own airport. Most visitors fly into Zurich Airport (ZRH) in Switzerland, then take a train or drive to Liechtenstein. At Zurich, you'll go through Swiss immigration (Schengen entry). Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation details ready.
2
Present your documents
At passport control, hand over your passport. The officer may ask: purpose of visit, length of stay, where you're staying, and when you leave. Answer briefly and honestly. They rarely ask for proof of funds or insurance for short visits.
3
Receive entry stamp
If everything is in order, you'll get an entry stamp in your passport. This stamp records the date you entered the Schengen Area. Keep it visible — it's your proof of legal entry. The officer will not issue a separate visa or permit.
4
Travel to Liechtenstein
Once you're in Switzerland, there are no border checks between Switzerland and Liechtenstein. You can take a train to Buchs SG or Sargans, then a bus to Vaduz. No additional paperwork is needed.
