Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Cameroon passport holders need an eVisa to enter Papua New Guinea. Apply at the official Immigration and Citizenship Authority portal at least 2 weeks before your flight. The eVisa is linked electronically to your passport — print the approval letter and carry it with your boarding pass.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into Papua New Guinea. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers in Port Moresby ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. A flight booking out of Papua New Guinea to any destination works — it does not have to be back to Cameroon. Budget airlines enforce this at check-in too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Have a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Papua New Guinea. Immigration may ask for it during the interview at the airport. A booking confirmation from Booking.com or Agoda is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a recent bank statement showing at least 1,000 PGK (around 300 USD) per day of your stay. Immigration officers occasionally ask for this at the border. A credit card statement works if it shows available credit.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination required
Cameroon is a yellow fever endemic country. You must carry a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate when entering Papua New Guinea. Without it, you could be quarantined or denied entry.
Apply for your eVisa early
Processing times can be unpredictable. Apply at least 10 days before your departure to avoid last-minute stress. The eVisa is linked to your passport number — if you renew your passport, you'll need to reapply.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Papua New Guinea eVisa website (or use the link in the checklist below). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and upload a digital passport photo. Pay the fee with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes a few business days — apply at least a week before your flight.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
You'll get an email with your approved eVisa attached as a PDF. Print a copy and save a digital version on your phone. Immigration at Port Moresby's Jacksons International Airport will ask to see it when you land.
3
Arrive at Jacksons International Airport (POM)
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will check your documents, stamp your passport, and wave you through. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes if you have everything ready.
