What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Gather your passport (valid 6+ months), a recent passport-sized photo, your flight itinerary, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. For a tourist visa, you'll also need a visa support letter (voucher) from a Russian tour operator or hotel.
2
Complete the online visa application
Go to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs e-visa portal (https://evisa.kdmid.ru/) and fill out the application form. Select the correct visa type (tourist, business, etc.). Print the completed form and sign it.
3
Submit your application in person
Take your printed application, passport, photo, and supporting documents to the Russian embassy or visa centre in Yaoundé or Douala. You may need to book an appointment. Pay the visa fee (cash or card, depending on the centre).
4
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 7–20 business days. You can track your application online. Once approved, your passport will be returned with the visa sticker inside.
5
Arrive in Russia and go through immigration
At the airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Answer clearly. You'll receive an immigration card — keep the smaller slip with your passport for the duration of your stay.
