Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Gabon. Apply at evisa.gouv.ga at least 72 hours before departure. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport — immigration at Libreville will ask for it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Gabon. Airlines at Chinese airports enforce this strictly — they will deny boarding if your passport expires sooner.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration at Libreville International Airport checks for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone — they will not let you through without proof of departure.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Gabon. Immigration may ask for it at the counter — a printed booking confirmation works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 500,000 CFA francs (roughly $800 USD). Immigration rarely asks, but they can request proof of sufficient funds for your stay.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Gabon. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (and possibly fined). Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
eVisa is the only option — no visa on arrival
Chinese passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival at Gabon airports. The eVisa must be approved before you fly. Apply early and carry a printed copy.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Gabon eVisa website (evisa.gouv.ga). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print at least one copy and keep a digital copy on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
At the airport in China, the airline will check your eVisa, passport validity, and return ticket. Have them ready in a folder. Boarding won't be allowed without the eVisa.
4
Arrive at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
After landing, proceed to immigration. Present your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket. The officer may ask your hotel address — have it ready. The process is straightforward if your documents are in order.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check — declare any large amounts of cash or restricted items. Then you're free to exit.
