What happens at the border

Apply for eVisa
Go to evisa.kdmid.ru, fill in the form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport data page. Pay the fee (if any) and submit. Approval usually comes within 4 days.

Prepare documents
Print or save your eVisa approval, passport, return ticket, and hotel booking. Keep them together in a folder or on your phone.

Arrive at Russian border
At passport control, hand over your passport and eVisa approval. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with an entry stamp.

Register your stay
Within 7 days of arrival, your hotel or host must register you with the local migration office. If you're in a private apartment, the host must do this. Keep a copy of the registration slip.
