Visa required — apply early
Chinese passport holders cannot enter Ukraine without a visa. The e-visa takes up to 10 business days, so apply at least 2 weeks before your trip. Last-minute applications may not be processed in time.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Ukraine, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the visa.
What happens at the border

Apply for your e-visa
Go to evisa.gov.ua and fill out the online application. Upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $20-30 USD) and submit. Processing takes 5-10 business days. You'll receive the visa by email.

Pack your documents
Print or save to your phone: the visa approval email, passport, return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Keep them together in a folder or a clear plastic sleeve.

Arrive at the airport in Ukraine
At Boryspil (Kyiv) or Lviv airport, follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp — that's your entry permission.

Immigration officers rarely ask for proof of funds or insurance, but have them ready. If they ask 'How long are you staying?' say the exact number of days matching your visa.

Transit visa required
Chinese citizens transiting through Ukraine (including airside) generally need a transit visa, unless they qualify for visa-free transit (e.g., holding a valid Schengen, US, UK, or other approved visa and flying to a third country within 24 hours).
Exceptions & conditions
