RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Apply for a visa at the Ukrainian embassy or consulate
Chinese passport holders need a visa before traveling to Ukraine. Apply at the nearest Ukrainian embassy or consulate — processing takes 5–10 working days. Check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for the application form and required documents.Check visa requirementsRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Ukraine. No minimum validity period beyond your departure date is required by Ukrainian law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ukraine
Border officers may ask for a return or onward ticket to confirm you will leave Ukraine before your visa expires. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may request proof of where you are staying — a hotel reservation, rental agreement, or a notarized invitation from a Ukrainian host. Keep a copy accessible.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient money for your stay
Officers can ask for evidence you have enough funds — roughly $50 USD per day of your stay. Bank statements, cash, or traveler's checks all work.Recommended
Visa required — apply early
Chinese passport holders cannot enter Ukraine without a visa. The e-visa takes up to 10 business days, so apply at least 2 weeks before your trip. Last-minute applications may not be processed in time.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months from the day you land in Ukraine, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the visa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your e-visa
Go to evisa.gov.ua and fill out the online application. Upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $20-30 USD) and submit. Processing takes 5-10 business days. You'll receive the visa by email.
2
Pack your documents
Print or save to your phone: the visa approval email, passport, return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Keep them together in a folder or a clear plastic sleeve.
3
Arrive at the airport in Ukraine
At Boryspil (Kyiv) or Lviv airport, follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp — that's your entry permission.
4
Show documents if asked
Immigration officers rarely ask for proof of funds or insurance, but have them ready. If they ask 'How long are you staying?' say the exact number of days matching your visa.
