Colombian passport holders can visit the Czech Republic for up to 90 days without a visa. This covers tourism, business, and short-term stays. The 90-day limit applies across all Schengen countries, so time spent in France, Germany, or any other Schengen state counts toward the same allowance.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your full stay
At least 6 months validity beyond your entry date. Minimum 1 blank page for the entry stamp. Airlines may deny boarding if validity is too close.Required
Return or onward ticket
Officers check this regularly
A confirmed flight out of the country. Immigration may ask to see this — have a screenshot ready on your phone. An onward ticket from a neighbouring country also works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel name or address
A hotel booking confirmation, or the address of where you are staying. The arrival form often asks for this. A Booking.com or Airbnb confirmation email is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Rarely checked
Immigration officers may ask you to demonstrate sufficient funds for your stay. A credit card or bank statement usually suffices.Recommended
90-day Schengen limit applies across all 27 countries
Your 90 days are shared among all Schengen countries. If you spend 30 days in France, 30 in Germany, and 30 in the Czech Republic, you've used your full allowance. You cannot re-enter any Schengen country until 90 days have passed since your last exit.
Keep proof of your departure
Always keep your boarding pass or flight confirmation when leaving the Schengen area. If you're ever questioned about overstaying, this is your evidence that you left on time.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before you fly
Before heading to the airport, check your passport is valid for 6+ months from your entry date. Print or save on your phone: return ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance. Have a screenshot of your eSIM activation ready too.
2
Check in and board your flight
At check-in, the airline will verify your passport and onward ticket. They may also ask about your accommodation. If everything's in order, you'll get your boarding pass.
3
Arrive at Prague Václav Havel Airport (or other Czech airport)
Follow signs to 'Passport Control' for non-EU citizens. Join the queue for 'All passports' or 'Non-EU'. Have your passport and onward ticket ready. The officer will check your passport, ask about your trip (purpose, length, where you're staying), and stamp you in. This usually takes 1-2 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. If you have nothing to declare, walk through the green channel. You're now in the Schengen area.

Frequently asked questions

No. The 90-day visa-free stay is the maximum for any 180-day period across all Schengen countries. You cannot extend it. If you want to stay longer, you need to apply for a long-stay visa or residence permit from the Czech embassy in Colombia before you travel.
If you're staying in a hotel, they handle the registration for you. If you're staying with friends or family, your host must register you with the Foreign Police within 3 working days of your arrival. This is a legal requirement, though rarely checked for short stays.
Overstaying is a serious violation. You can be fined, banned from re-entering the Schengen area for up to 5 years, or both. The fine varies but can be several hundred euros. Don't risk it — leave before day 90.
Technically, the visa-free regime is for tourism, business meetings, and short-term stays. Remote work for a foreign employer is a grey area. The official rule is you cannot 'work' without a permit. In practice, many digital nomads do it, but be aware it's not explicitly allowed. If you're caught, you could be denied entry next time.
If you're staying airside and not entering the Schengen area, you do not need a visa for transit. But if you need to pass through passport control (e.g., to switch airports or stay overnight), the standard visa-free rules apply — you can stay up to 90 days.
You will likely be denied boarding by the airline or entry by immigration. Get a new passport from the Colombian authorities before you travel. A damaged passport (torn pages, water damage, etc.) is also grounds for refusal.
Yes, a Colombian temporary passport is accepted for visa-free travel to the Czech Republic, as long as it meets the 6-month validity requirement and has at least one blank page.
