Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Colombian passport needs to be valid for at least the full 90 days you plan to stay in Hong Kong. Hong Kong immigration does not enforce the 6-month rule, but your airline might — check with them before you fly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Hong Kong
Immigration officers at Hong Kong International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Hong Kong. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you can cover your stay. Hong Kong doesn't publish a minimum amount, but around HK$1,000 per day is a safe benchmark if asked.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. Airlines check this before boarding, and immigration checks it on arrival. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied entry.
No visa needed, but be prepared
While you don't need a visa, immigration may still ask for a return ticket and proof of accommodation. Keep digital copies on your phone to speed things up.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hong Kong International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for Hong Kong residents and visitors. Join the 'Visitors' queue.
2
Present your passport and documents
Hand over your passport and any supporting documents (return ticket, accommodation booking) if asked. The officer will check your passport validity and may ask about your stay.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay period (usually 90 days). Check the stamp before walking away.
4
Collect luggage and proceed
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There are no arrival declaration forms to fill out for Colombian passport holders.
