Colombian passport holders can enter Ukraine without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. This visa-free arrangement is in effect for 2026, so you can travel to Kyiv, Lviv, or Odesa without prior paperwork. Just make sure your passport meets the entry requirements and you have the basics ready at the border.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Ukraine. No minimum validity beyond your stay is required by Ukrainian law, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ukraine
Immigration officers at Boryspil and Lviv airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave within the 90-day visa-free period.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border guards may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation, Airbnb reservation, or a notarized invitation from a Ukrainian host works. Keep a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Ukraine doesn't publish a fixed daily amount, but carry at least $50–$100 USD per day in cash or a credit card statement. ATMs work in major cities, but cash is king in smaller towns.Recommended
Overstaying is serious
Ukraine enforces its 90-day limit strictly. Overstaying even a few days can lead to fines and a re-entry ban. Set a calendar reminder to leave before day 90.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save screenshots of your passport, return ticket, accommodation booking, and insurance policy on your phone. If you lose your passport, these copies make replacement much faster.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at a Ukrainian border checkpoint
You'll enter through an airport (Kyiv Boryspil, Lviv, Odesa) or a land border from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, or Moldova. At the immigration booth, hand over your passport. The officer will check your passport validity, blank page, and may ask for your return ticket and accommodation proof.
2
Receive your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (90 days). This stamp is your proof of legal entry. Keep your passport safe — you'll need it for hotel check-ins and any police checks.
3
Proceed to baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your luggage and walk through the customs channel. If you have nothing to declare (goods over €10,000 or restricted items), use the green channel. Otherwise, use the red channel and fill out a customs declaration.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave Ukraine before the 90 days are up. If you need to stay longer, you'd have to apply for a temporary residence permit (which requires a valid reason like work or study) from the State Migration Service in Ukraine. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
You cannot extend the visa-free period. For longer stays, you need a visa or a residence permit. Apply at the Ukrainian embassy in Bogotá before you travel, or if you're already in Ukraine, contact the State Migration Service office in your city. Processing times vary, so plan ahead.
If you stay longer than 90 days, you must register with the State Migration Service within 30 days of arrival. For stays under 90 days, no registration is needed. Hotels usually handle registration for their guests automatically.
Yes, you can enter by land from any of Ukraine's western neighbors: Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova. The same visa-free rules apply. Expect longer queues at land borders during peak travel times. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation proof ready.
Overstaying is a violation of immigration law. You may be fined (around 1,700 to 8,500 UAH, roughly $45–$230) and could be banned from re-entering Ukraine for up to 3 years. Always leave on time or apply for a proper extension before your stay expires.
It's not legally required for visa-free entry, but it's strongly recommended. If you need medical care, costs can add up quickly. Some border officers may ask to see proof of insurance, so it's safer to have it. Buy a policy that covers medical evacuation and at least $50,000 in coverage.
No, visa-free entry is for tourism, business meetings, or short visits only. You cannot work or study without the appropriate visa or permit. If you plan to work or study, apply for the relevant visa at the Ukrainian embassy in Bogotá before you travel.
