Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Azerbaijan eVisa at evisa.gov.az at least 3 working days before departure. The eVisa is valid for 30 days single entry. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid on arrival
Your Czech passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Azerbaijan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Baku Heydar Aliyev Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Without one, you risk being refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Azerbaijan. Officers sometimes ask for this at passport control, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough funds for your stay. The official threshold is around 50 USD per day, but officers rarely check unless you look short on cash.Recommended
eVisa is single-entry only
The eVisa allows one entry. If you leave Azerbaijan (even for a day trip to Georgia), you'll need a new visa to re-enter.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Azerbaijan, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online

2
Prepare your documents
Print the eVisa confirmation. Save a digital copy on your phone. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. If you have travel insurance, keep the policy number handy.
3
Arrive at the airport in Azerbaijan
At Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku, head to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Present your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket or hotel address. Answer clearly and confidently.
