Czech passport holders can get a visa on arrival for tourism or business at major airports in Bangladesh. Valid for up to 30 days, it costs about $50 USD. As of 2026, the process is straightforward but requires a few documents ready before you land.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Get a 30-day single-entry visa on arrival at Dhaka, Chittagong, or Sylhet airports. Pay $51 USD in cash (exact change recommended) and have two passport photos ready. The visa counter opens after baggage claim — follow the 'Visa on Arrival' signs.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Bangladesh. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Return ticket
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready — they may deny entry if you can't show one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Bangladesh. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial proof
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. Immigration rarely checks this, but it's a formal requirement for visa-on-arrival entry.Recommended
Cash only for visa fee
The visa on arrival counter does not accept credit or debit cards. Bring crisp, undamaged US dollars or euros — torn or marked notes may be refused. ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need cash before that point.
Visa on arrival is for airports only
This facility is only available at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (Dhaka), Shah Amanat International Airport (Chittagong), and Osmani International Airport (Sylhet). If you enter Bangladesh by land from India or Myanmar, you must have a visa issued by a Bangladeshi embassy beforehand.

What happens at the border

1
Land at a qualifying airport
Visa on arrival is available at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka, Shah Amanat International Airport (CGP) in Chittagong, and Osmani International Airport (ZYL) in Sylhet. Land borders do not offer this facility for Czechs.
2
Go to the visa on arrival counter
After deplaning, follow signs for 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Landing Visa'. There's a dedicated counter before immigration. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation proof ready.
3
Fill out the application form
You'll get a short form to fill in — name, passport number, flight details, address in Bangladesh. Use a black pen. Keep it simple.
4
Pay the fee and get your visa
Hand over the form, your passport, and cash. The officer will process payment, stamp your passport, and hand you a visa sticker. This takes 5–10 minutes.
5
Proceed to immigration
With the visa sticker in your passport, join the immigration queue. The officer will check your passport and may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). Answer honestly.

Frequently asked questions

The visa on arrival is typically valid for 30 days. It's a single-entry visa. If you need longer, you can apply for an extension at the Department of Immigration and Passports in Dhaka, but it's not guaranteed.
Yes, but it's not automatic. You need to visit the Department of Immigration and Passports in Dhaka (near the airport) and apply for an extension. The fee is around 3000 BDT (about $35 USD) for a 30-day extension. Processing takes 2–3 working days.
Visa on arrival is not available at land borders for Czech passport holders. You must fly into one of the three international airports listed above. If you're coming overland, you need to get a visa from a Bangladeshi embassy before you travel.
You'll almost certainly be denied the visa on arrival. Immigration officers are strict about this. If you're not sure when you're leaving, book a refundable onward ticket or a cheap flight to a nearby country (e.g., Kolkata, Bangkok).
No. The visa counter only accepts cash. Bring US dollars, euros, or Bangladeshi Taka. Avoid torn or damaged notes — they may be refused.
Not if you're coming directly from Europe. But if you've been in a country with yellow fever (e.g., parts of Africa or South America) within 6 days before arriving, you'll need a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Otherwise, you may be quarantined or denied entry.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll be fined 200 BDT (about $2.50 USD) per day overstayed, and you may be banned from re-entering Bangladesh for a period. If you know you'll overstay, apply for an extension before your visa expires.
