All visa-exempt visitors, including Czech citizens, must have an approved ETA before flying to the UK. Apply online at gov.uk/apply-uk-visa — £10, valid for 2 years, and usually approved within minutes.

What happens at the border

Apply for ETA before travel
Complete the online ETA application at gov.uk/apply-uk-visa at least 48 hours before departure. The £10 fee covers multiple trips for up to 2 years. Approval is usually instant, but apply early to avoid delays.

Arrive at UK border
At airports like Heathrow, Gatwick, or Manchester, join the 'ePassport gates' queue if your passport has a chip. These are automated and usually faster. If the gates are closed or your passport doesn't work, join the 'All Other Passports' queue.

Present your passport
Hand over your passport. The officer will scan it and may ask a few questions: purpose of visit, where you're staying, how long, and return plans. Answer briefly and honestly.

Show supporting documents if asked
If requested, show your return ticket, accommodation booking, and proof of funds. Keep them in an easily accessible pocket, not buried in your bag.

Receive entry stamp or eGate confirmation
If using ePassport gates, you won't get a physical stamp. If using a manned booth, you'll get a stamp in your passport. Either way, you're allowed to stay up to 180 days.
