Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Mauritius
Your Czech passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Mauritius does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date — just enough to cover your stay. Airlines may still enforce the 6-month rule, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Mauritius
Immigration officers at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready. Overstaying the 90-day visa-free period costs 500 MUR per day, paid at the airport.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask for your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Keep a copy on your phone or printed. If staying with friends, they can send you a signed invitation with their contact details.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Officers occasionally ask for evidence of sufficient funds. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 3,000 MUR per day of your stay. A recent payslip or cash works too.Recommended
Travel insurance is not mandatory, but don't skip it
Mauritius has good medical facilities, but treatment is expensive. A simple hospital visit can cost hundreds of euros. Travel insurance covering medical evacuation is cheap peace of mind.
Overstaying is a real problem
The 90-day limit is strict. Overstay even by a day and you risk a fine (around 10,000 MUR) and a note on your record. Set a reminder to leave on time.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Mauritius airport
You'll land at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU). Follow signs to 'Immigration' — it's a single queue for all foreign visitors. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask your purpose of visit (tourism), how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They'll stamp you in for up to 90 days.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're free to go.
