Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Azerbaijan eVisa at evisa.gov.az. Processing takes up to 3 working days, and the visa is valid for 30 days single entry. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Danish passport needs at least 3 months of validity beyond your intended departure date from Azerbaijan. Airlines check this at check-in, and immigration at Baku Heydar Aliyev Airport enforces it strictly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Baku airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or onward ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Azerbaijan. Border officers occasionally ask for this, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to roughly 50 USD per day of your stay. Immigration rarely checks this for Danish passport holders, but it helps if asked.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry, not departure
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Azerbaijan. If it expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding and entry. Renew your passport before applying for the eVisa.
eVisa is for tourism only
The standard eVisa is for tourism, business, or transit. If you plan to work, study, or stay longer than 30 days, you need a different visa type — contact the Azerbaijani embassy in Copenhagen.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online

2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3 business days. You'll receive the approved eVisa by email as a PDF. Print a copy and save it on your phone.
3
Arrive at the airport in Azerbaijan
At Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport, head to the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Present your passport and printed eVisa. The officer will stamp you in. Keep your return ticket and hotel booking handy in case they ask.
