Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Colombia
Your Danish passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your trip. Colombia does not require 6 months of remaining validity beyond your departure date, but your airline may enforce their own policy — check with them before flying.Required
Check-Mig pre-registrationColombia's mandatory online pre-registration form at migracioncolombia.gov.co. Complete it within 72 hours before your flight — it takes under 5 minutes.
Mandatory online form for all travellers
Complete the free Check-Mig form at migracioncolombia.gov.co within 72 hours before your flight. Takes under 5 minutes — you'll get a QR code to show at immigration. Without it, you may be denied boarding.Open Check-Mig formRequired
Return or onward ticket
Proof of exit from Colombia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a flight out of Colombia within your 90-day visa-free stay. A bus ticket to a neighbouring country also works. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have your first night's hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask for it, but if they do, a simple booking printout or email suffices.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to roughly 200 USD per day of your stay. Immigration rarely checks this for Danish passport holders, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Check-Mig is mandatory — don't skip it
Complete the free Check-Mig form at migracioncolombia.gov.co within 72 hours before your flight. Without it, you may be denied boarding or fined on arrival. Save the QR code on your phone.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Colombia, not from when you book your flight. If it's close to expiring, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Complete Check-Mig online
Go to migracioncolombia.gov.co and fill in the Check-Mig form within 72 hours before your flight. You'll need your flight details, passport info, and accommodation address. Save the QR code they email you.
2
Arrive at Colombian airport
At Bogotá El Dorado or Medellín José María Córdova, follow signs to 'Migración' (immigration). Have your passport, boarding pass, and Check-Mig QR code ready. The officer will stamp your passport with a 90-day entry.
3
Show return ticket if asked
Immigration officers sometimes ask for proof of onward travel. Have a screenshot of your return or onward flight ticket on your phone to show quickly.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passing immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. There's usually a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods to declare.
