Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Cuban tourist eVisa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Havana Airport will stamp it on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Danish passport must be valid for your entire stay in Cuba. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Cuban law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Cuban immigration officers always ask for proof of onward travel at passport control. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. Airlines also check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter from your casa particular host with the address and contact number. Print it — phone screens can fail.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers rarely ask, but carry proof of at least 50 CUC (or equivalent in EUR/USD) per day of your stay. A bank statement or cash in hand works. Cuba runs on cash — credit cards from US banks don't work.Recommended
eVisa is single-entry only
If you leave Cuba (even for a day trip), you will need a new eVisa to re-enter. Plan your itinerary accordingly.
Keep a printed copy of your eVisa
Phone screens can die or lose signal. A paper copy is your backup at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your eVisa online
Go to the official Cuban eVisa portal or your airline's recommended site. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Pay the fee (typically €30–50 depending on processing speed). You will get a confirmation email within a few days.
2
Print or save your eVisa
Once approved, print a paper copy and save a PDF on your phone. You will need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Cuba.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
At Copenhagen or any Danish airport, the airline will check your eVisa, passport validity, and return ticket. Have them ready at the check-in counter.
4
Arrive at Havana's José Martí International Airport
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Join the queue for foreign passports. Present your passport, eVisa, and return ticket. The officer may ask about your accommodation and purpose of visit. Answer clearly. You will get a stamp and be through.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. Declare any items over the duty-free limit. Then you are free to go.
