Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Danish passport needs to be valid for your entire stay in Hong Kong. Hong Kong does not enforce the 6-month validity rule for Danish passport holders — just make sure it covers your travel dates.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Hong Kong International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or onward ticket ready — they check this before granting entry.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a copy of your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient financial means
Have access to enough funds for your stay — a credit card or bank statement showing a few thousand HKD is usually sufficient. Officers rarely check this for Danish passport holders, but it's good to have on hand.Recommended
No visa needed for Danish passport holders
You can enter Hong Kong for up to 90 days without a visa. Just show your valid passport at immigration.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If it's close to expiring, renew it before you go.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hong Kong International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then to 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for Hong Kong residents and visitors. Join the 'Visitors' queue.
2
Present your passport and documents
Hand over your Danish passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Answer clearly and briefly. They will stamp your passport and wave you through.
3
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, go to the baggage claim area. Then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no restricted items. You're now free to enter Hong Kong.
