Danish passport holders can visit Moldova for tourism or business without a visa for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This applies in 2026 at all entry points, including Chișinău International Airport. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from your arrival date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Danish passport only needs to be valid for the time you plan to stay in Moldova. Airlines rarely check beyond that, but carry a copy of your return ticket in case they ask.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Moldova
Immigration officers at Chișinău International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check it before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, not having it can slow you down.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least €50 per day of your stay. Officers almost never check this for Danish passport holders, but it's good to have on your phone.Recommended
Visa-free ≠ automatic entry
Even though you don't need a visa, Moldovan border officers can still refuse entry if they suspect you're staying for work, have insufficient funds, or pose a security risk. Always carry proof of your return ticket and accommodation.
Overstay penalties are strict
Overstaying even by a day can trigger fines and a re-entry ban. Set a calendar reminder to leave a few days before your 90-day limit. If you need more time, apply for a residence permit well in advance.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Chișinău International Airport (or land border)
Most travellers fly into Chișinău (KIV). After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control' for non-EU/non-Schengen arrivals. There are separate queues for Moldovan citizens and foreigners — join the 'Foreign Passports' line.
2
Present your passport and supporting documents
Hand over your passport with the photo page facing the officer. If asked, show your return ticket and accommodation booking. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 1–3 minutes.
3
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After passport control, head to the baggage claim area. Customs is generally straightforward for personal items. If you're carrying more than €10,000 in cash or equivalent, you must declare it.
