Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the full period you plan to stay in Mongolia. Airlines and immigration officers at Ulaanbaatar's Chinggis Khaan International Airport check this before boarding and on arrival.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Mongolia
Immigration at Ulaanbaatar airport routinely asks for a confirmed onward or return ticket. If you arrive without one, you may be denied entry or asked to buy a ticket at the airport.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a printed or digital hotel reservation for your first few nights, or a letter of invitation from a host. Officers rarely ask, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Carry enough cash (USD or MNT) or a credit card to cover your expenses. Immigration may ask for proof of funds, especially if you arrive without a return ticket.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity at check-in. If you have less than 6 months remaining, you will not be allowed to board. Double-check before you go.
No visa needed for 30 days
Danish passport holders can stay up to 30 days without a visa. This applies to tourism, business, and transit. Overstaying even by a day can result in fines or future entry bans.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Ulaanbaatar (Chinggis Khaan International Airport)
You'll go through immigration at the main airport. Queue up at the 'Foreign Passports' counter. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp you in for up to 30 days.
2
Fill out the arrival card (if required)
On the plane or at the airport, you may be given a small arrival/departure card. Fill it out with your passport details and accommodation address. Keep the departure stub safe — you'll need it when leaving.
3
Proceed to baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your bags. Customs is usually green channel (nothing to declare) unless you have large sums of cash or restricted goods.
