Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Danish passport needs to be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Serbia. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Serbian law, but airlines may check for at least 3 months validity.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Serbia
Border officers may ask for a confirmed flight or bus ticket out of Serbia. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this more often at land borders than at Belgrade Airport.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Immigration may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a letter from a host with their address is enough. If you're staying with friends, have their contact details and address written down.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers can request evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to roughly €50–100 per day of your trip.Recommended
90-day limit resets after 180 days
The 90-day visa-free stay is calculated over any rolling 180-day period. If you stay 90 days, you must leave Serbia for at least 90 days before you can return for another 90-day stay. Keep track of your days — overstaying even by one day can cause problems.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Serbian immigration requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. Airlines may deny boarding if your passport doesn't meet this. Check your passport's expiry date before booking.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport or land border
You'll go through passport control. Hand over your passport. The officer may ask how long you're staying and where you're staying. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with the entry date. No visa form needed.
2
Show return ticket if asked
Keep your return ticket easily accessible on your phone or printed. If the officer asks, show it. Most Danish travellers don't get asked, but it's better to be ready.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel for nothing to declare. You're free to enter Serbia.

Frequently asked questions

No. The 90-day visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave Serbia before day 90. If you overstay, you risk fines and a ban. To stay longer, you'd need to apply for a temporary residence permit before your 90 days are up — that requires a reason like work, study, or family reunion.
No. Danish citizens transiting through Serbia (e.g., changing flights at Belgrade airport) do not need a visa as long as you stay in the international transit area. If you need to enter Serbia (e.g., to switch airports or stay overnight), the same visa-free rules apply.
You risk being denied boarding by the airline or entry by Serbian immigration. Renew your passport before you travel. The 6-month validity is strictly enforced.
No. Hotels and hosts are required to register you automatically. If you're staying in a private home, your host should register you within 24 hours. If you're camping or staying in an unregistered place, you may need to register yourself at the nearest police station — but this is rare for short stays.
No. The visa-free stay is for tourism, business meetings, and short visits only. You cannot work for a Serbian employer or do paid work without a work permit and a temporary residence permit.
You'll face a fine (around 5,000–50,000 RSD, roughly €40–€425) and may be banned from entering Serbia for up to a year. Overstaying also creates problems for future visa applications. Don't risk it.
No. You don't need a visa at all — it's visa-free. There's no visa-on-arrival process because you don't need one. Just show your passport.
