Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Tunisia
Your passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Tunisia does not enforce the 6-month validity rule — your passport only needs to be valid for the duration of your stay. Airlines sometimes ask for 3 months beyond your departure date, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Tunisia
Immigration officers at Tunis-Carthage Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket before they stamp you in. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready. A flight booking confirmation works — it doesn't need to be a paid ticket.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Officers rarely ask for it, but if you arrive without a clear place to stay, they may question your plans. A booking.com reservation printed out is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
You don't need a specific amount, but have a bank statement or credit card ready. Officers may ask how you'll support yourself, especially if you're staying the full 90 days. A few hundred euros in cash or a card with a visible balance works.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Tunisia, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before you go.
No extension possible
The 90-day visa-free stay cannot be extended. You must leave before day 90. Overstaying can result in fines and entry bans.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Tunis-Carthage Airport (or other entry point)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (Passeport). There are separate queues for Tunisian citizens and foreigners. Join the 'Foreigners' line. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp you in — no visa needed. The process usually takes 5–15 minutes.
2
Collect luggage and proceed to customs
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel. Customs is usually a green channel for most tourists. You may be randomly selected for a bag check, but it's rare.
3
Exit the airport
Once through customs, you're free to leave. Taxis and car rentals are available outside. Keep your passport and entry stamp safe — you'll need it when leaving.

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave Tunisia before the 90 days are up. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban. If you need to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a visa before traveling.
If you're transiting through a Tunisian airport and not leaving the international transit area, you don't need a visa. But if you plan to enter the country (even for a few hours), the visa-free rules apply — 90 days max.
You may be denied boarding or entry. The 6-month validity rule is strictly enforced. Renew your passport before traveling. If you're in a hurry, check with the Danish passport office for expedited service.
No, there's no official requirement to show proof of funds for Danish passport holders. But it's smart to have a credit card or some cash (Tunisian dinar or euros) for your stay.
The visa-free entry is for tourism and short business trips only. Working remotely for a foreign employer is technically not allowed, but enforcement is rare. If you plan to work, consider a digital nomad visa if available. Otherwise, keep a low profile.
Overstaying can lead to a fine (around 30–50 TND per day), a ban from re-entering Tunisia, or both. If you realize you'll overstay, contact the nearest immigration office (in Tunis or your city) before your visa-free period ends.
No mandatory vaccinations for Danish travelers. But routine vaccines (hepatitis A, typhoid) are recommended. Check with your doctor 4–6 weeks before travel.
