Danish passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda. Apply online, and you'll usually get a decision within a few days. The visa is valid for 90 days from the date it's issued, so time your application carefully.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Uganda eVisa
Apply online at the Uganda eVisa portal before travel. Processing takes 2–3 business days — do not wait until the last minute. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to present at immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Uganda. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uganda
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Without one, you may be refused entry or forced to buy a ticket at the airport. Have a printed copy or digital booking ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration may ask where you are staying — a printed booking confirmation avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Carry cash (USD or local currency) or a bank statement showing you can cover your expenses. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, $100–$200 per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
eVisa validity starts from the date of issue
Your eVisa is valid for 90 days from the day it's approved, not from your travel date. If you apply too early, it might expire before you arrive. Apply no more than 2–3 weeks before departure.
Keep a printed copy of your eVisa
You'll need to show the printed approval letter at check-in in Denmark and again on arrival in Uganda. A digital copy on your phone is not always accepted — print it.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa) by credit card. You'll receive a confirmation email.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 2–5 business days. You'll get an approval letter by email. Print it — you'll need to show it at check-in in Denmark and again on arrival in Uganda.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Visitors with eVisa'. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa approval, and boarding pass. The officer will stamp you in — usually takes 2–5 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. There's no separate health screening unless you're arriving from a yellow fever endemic area.

Frequently asked questions

Typically 2–5 business days. Apply at least a week before your flight to be safe. You'll get an email with the approval letter.
Yes, but it's not straightforward. You can apply for an extension at the Immigration Headquarters in Kampala (Plot 1 Jinja Road). The process takes a few days and costs around $50–100 USD. It's easier to plan your trip within the 90-day eVisa validity.
Yes, if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever risk. Denmark is not a risk country, but if you've recently traveled to a risk area, you'll need proof of vaccination. Otherwise, it's not required — but it's still recommended for your own health.
You can apply for a visa on arrival at Entebbe Airport, but it's more expensive (around $100 USD) and involves a longer queue. The eVisa is cheaper and faster. Avoid the hassle and apply online.
The standard single-entry eVisa is for one entry only. If you plan to leave and re-enter Uganda (e.g., for a safari in Kenya), you'll need a multiple-entry visa or apply for a new one each time.
Your passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa approval letter, return or onward ticket, and proof of first night's accommodation. That's it. They rarely ask for bank statements or travel insurance.
