Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Visa required
You need a visa before traveling to Belarus. Apply at the nearest Belarusian embassy or consulate — processing takes 5–15 business days depending on your location. Check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for the application form and required documents.Check visa requirementsRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Belarus. No minimum validity beyond that is required by Belarusian law, but some airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Border officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. If you plan to leave by land, carry a copy of your itinerary or bus/train booking.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host ready. If staying with friends, a notarized invitation from the host speeds things up.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
You may be asked to show you can support yourself during your stay. Carry cash (at least €50 per day) or a bank statement. Belarus uses Belarusian rubles — exchange at official kiosks, not on the street.Recommended
No visa on arrival — apply early
Algerian passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport or land border. The e-Visa must be approved before you travel. Start the process at least 2 weeks before your trip.
Print your visa — digital copies not accepted
Border officers require a paper copy of your approved e-Visa. Save the PDF and print it at home or at a print shop before you leave.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-Visa online
Go to e-visa.by/en, fill in the application form, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (€60–€80) by card. You'll get a confirmation email within minutes.
2
Wait for processing
Processing takes 5–7 business days. You'll receive the approved visa as a PDF by email. Print it out — you'll need a paper copy to show at the border.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Print your visa, keep your passport handy, and save your return ticket and hotel booking on your phone. Also download an offline map of Minsk in case you have no signal on arrival.
4
Arrive at Minsk National Airport (MSQ)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, printed visa, return ticket, and hotel confirmation ready. The officer will check everything, stamp your passport, and let you through.
5
Register your stay (if staying more than 5 days)
If you're staying longer than 5 days, your hotel or host must register you with the local migration office within 3 days of arrival. If you're in a private apartment, the host handles it — just confirm they've done it.
