Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Algerian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Cuba. Apply at the Cuba Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal — processing takes 5–7 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cuba. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Cuban immigration officers always ask for proof of onward travel. Show a printed or digital return ticket or a ticket to your next destination. Without one, you risk being refused entry and sent back on the next flight.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Immigration may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter from a private host (casa particular) ready. Print it — phone screens can fail or be questioned.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers can ask how you will support yourself. Carry cash (EUR or USD) or a debit/credit card statement showing sufficient funds. Cuba has limited card acceptance for foreign cards — cash is more reliable.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Cuba, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.
No visa on arrival
Cuba does not offer visa on arrival for Algerian passport holders. You must get the eVisa approved before you travel.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cuban eVisa website (search 'Cuba eVisa' or check with your airline). Fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport photo, and pay the fee. Processing takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval. Print a copy and also save the PDF on your phone. Keep it with your passport.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Before you land, have your passport, eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. At Havana's José Martí International Airport or Varadero's Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport, join the foreigner queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa — the officer may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). Answer clearly.
4
Get your passport stamped
The officer will stamp your passport with your entry date and allowed stay. Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If anything looks wrong, ask immediately.
