Algerian passport holders need a visa to enter Egypt in 2026. You must apply online before you travel — there is no visa on arrival for Algerian citizens. Plan ahead: the application process takes a few days and requires a valid passport, confirmed accommodation, and a return ticket.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Visa required
You need a visa before traveling to Egypt. Apply through the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the eVisa portal. The eVisa is available for tourism and business stays up to 30 days — processing takes 3–5 business days.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Egypt. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Cairo and Hurghada airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. If you overstay, the fine is 100 EGP per day.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Carry a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. A simple printout or phone screenshot works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Have access to at least $1,000 USD or equivalent in Egyptian pounds for your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but if you look underfunded, they may question your ability to support yourself. A bank statement or credit card works.Recommended
No visa on arrival for Algerians
Algerian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival at any Egyptian airport or land border. You must apply for an e-Visa online before departure. Arriving without one means you'll be sent back.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Egypt, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-Visa online
Go to the official Egypt e-Visa portal (visa2egypt.gov.eg) and fill out the application. Upload a digital passport photo and your passport data page. Pay the fee (around $25-$30 USD for a single-entry visa) by credit card. Processing takes 3-5 business days, sometimes faster.
2
Receive and print your visa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print two copies — one for immigration and one as a backup. Save a digital copy on your phone too.
3
Arrive at an Egyptian airport
At Cairo International Airport (or Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Luxor), proceed to the immigration hall. Join the queue for 'Foreign Passports' or 'All Passports'. Have your passport, printed visa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready.
4
Pass through immigration control
Hand over your passport and visa. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, where you're staying, and when you leave. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport and return it. You're in.
