What happens at the border

1
Book your visa appointment
Go to the France-Visas website, create an account, fill out the online application, and schedule an appointment at the French consulate in Algiers (or the honorary consulate in Annaba). Slots fill up fast — book as early as possible.
2
Prepare your documents
Gather all required documents: passport, application form, photos, flight booking, hotel confirmation, travel insurance, bank statements, and any additional supporting papers. Make photocopies of everything.
3
Attend the appointment
Arrive at the consulate on time with your complete file. You'll submit documents, pay the visa fee (€80 for adults, €40 for children 6-12, free for under 6), and give biometrics. Processing takes 15-30 calendar days on average.
4
Wait for processing and collect passport
Track your application online. Once approved, you'll be notified to pick up your passport from the consulate or have it delivered. The visa sticker will show your allowed stay (usually up to 90 days within 180 days).
5
Arrive in France and go through immigration
At the airport (CDG, Orly, Marseille, etc.), join the 'All Passports' queue. Hand over your passport with the visa. The officer may ask about your trip purpose, accommodation, and return ticket. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with your entry date.
