Algerian passport holders need a visa to enter Ireland in 2026. You must apply for a visa before you travel — there is no visa-on-arrival or eTA option. Plan ahead: processing can take several weeks.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Visa required
Apply for an Irish visa at the Irish visa application centre in your country of residence. Submit your application online at visainoireland.com, then attend an in-person appointment to submit your passport and biometrics. Processing takes 8–12 weeks, so apply well before your travel date.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Ireland. Ireland does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but your airline may enforce it — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa holders
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Airlines also check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Carry a hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Ireland. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Have bank statements or a credit card showing you can support yourself during your stay. There is no fixed minimum amount, but around €50–€70 per day is a safe benchmark. Officers may ask to see evidence of sufficient funds.Recommended
Visa required — no exceptions
Algerian passport holders cannot enter Ireland without a pre-approved visa. There is no visa-on-arrival, eTA, or waiver. Do not book non-refundable flights until your visa is approved.
Passport validity counts from entry, not departure
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Ireland. If your passport expires in less than 6 months from your arrival date, renew it before applying for the visa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa online
Go to the Irish visa website (visas.inis.gov.ie) and fill out the online application form. You'll need to upload a digital photo and pay the visa fee (€80 for a single-entry visa, €100 for multiple-entry). After submitting, print the summary sheet — you'll need it for your appointment.
2
Attend your visa appointment
Book an appointment at the VFS Global centre in Algiers (or the Irish embassy if required). Bring your printed application, passport, photo, flight itinerary, hotel booking, bank statements, and any other supporting documents. They'll take your biometrics (fingerprints and photo).
3
Wait for a decision
Processing usually takes 2–4 weeks, but can take up to 8 weeks during peak season (summer). You'll receive an email when a decision is made. If approved, your passport will be stamped with the visa — you can collect it or have it couriered.
4
Arrive at Dublin Airport
When you land at Dublin Airport (DUB), go to the 'Non-EEA' queue. Have your passport with visa, return ticket, and accommodation proof ready. The immigration officer may ask about your plans — answer clearly and honestly. They'll stamp your passport with the allowed stay duration.
