Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus

Apply before departure
Apply online at the official Iraq eVisa portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you'll receive a PDF approval — print two copies. The eVisa is single-entry only and valid for 30 days from issue.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Iraq. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Iraqi immigration, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Baghdad and Erbil airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return ticket or a ticket to a third country ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or an invitation letter from your host in Iraq can speed up the immigration process. Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you're traveling solo.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry enough cash (USD or IQD) for your stay — around $50–100 per day is a safe benchmark. Credit cards are rarely accepted outside major hotels in Baghdad and Erbil.Recommended
eVisa only — no visa on arrival
Algerian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Iraq. You must have an approved eVisa before you travel. Airlines will check this before boarding.
Keep digital copies handy
Save your eVisa PDF, return ticket, and hotel booking on your phone. Immigration officers at Baghdad airport often ask to see them. Screenshots work fine.
