Algerian passport holders need a visa to enter Taiwan in 2026. You must apply and receive approval from a Taiwanese diplomatic mission before you travel — there is no visa-on-arrival or eVisa option for Algerian citizens.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa application
Apply for a Taiwan visa
Algerian passport holders need a visa before traveling to Taiwan. Submit your application through the Taiwan Bureau of Consular Affairs online portal. Processing takes 5–7 business days, and you'll need to submit your passport to the nearest Taiwan diplomatic mission for the visa sticker.Apply for visaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the full duration of your stay in Taiwan. Taiwan does not enforce a 6-month validity rule, but your airline may check for it at check-in. Carry a photocopy of your passport's bio page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Taiwan
Immigration officers at Taoyuan Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready. Without one, you may be denied boarding or entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Taiwan. Officers may ask for it during secondary inspection. A simple booking confirmation from Booking.com or Agoda works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient financial means
Have bank statements or a credit card showing you can cover your stay. Taiwan does not publish a fixed minimum amount, but around NT$10,000 per day is a safe benchmark. Cash or traveler's checks are accepted.Recommended
No visa on arrival
Algerian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival or an eVisa for Taiwan. You must apply and receive approval from a Taiwanese diplomatic mission before you travel. Plan ahead.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Taiwan, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for a visa.

What happens at the border

1
Submit visa application online
Go to the Bureau of Consular Affairs visa application portal (visawebapp.boca.gov.tw) and fill out the form. You'll need to upload a passport photo, passport copy, and travel itinerary. After submission, you'll receive a reference number.
2
Attend visa interview (if required)
Depending on your application, the Taiwanese embassy or consulate may ask you to come in for an interview. Bring your passport, application confirmation, flight and hotel bookings, and any supporting documents like bank statements or employment letter.
3
Wait for visa approval
Processing typically takes 5–10 working days. You'll be notified by email or phone. Once approved, you'll receive a visa sticker in your passport or a separate visa document.
4
Arrive at Taiwan airport
At Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) or Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH), proceed to the immigration counter. Have your passport with visa, return ticket, and hotel booking ready. The officer will check your documents, take a photo, and stamp your passport.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, collect your checked luggage from the carousel and proceed through customs. If you have an eSIM, it should activate automatically as soon as you connect to the local network.
