Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Armenia. Border officers at Zvartnots Airport check this carefully. If your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Armenia
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy ready. Airlines also check this before letting you board your flight to Yerevan.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. Officers rarely ask for it, but if they do, not having one can lead to extra questioning. A simple Booking.com confirmation works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least 50,000 AMD (roughly $130 USD) in cash or have a bank statement showing available funds. Officers almost never check this for short stays, but it's good to have a backup.Recommended
Visa-free for 180 days
Estonian passport holders can stay up to 180 days per year without a visa. This is a generous allowance — most short trips are well within the limit.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it expires sooner, renew before you travel. No exceptions.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Yerevan airport or land border
At Zvartnots International Airport (EVN), follow signs to 'Passport Control'. For land borders (e.g., Bagratashen, Meghri), go to the immigration booth. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present your passport and answer questions
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you're staying. Answer briefly and honestly. They may also ask to see your return ticket.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date. Check that the stamp is clear and correct. You're free to enter Armenia. No visa fee is charged.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, collect your bags from baggage claim (if any) and proceed through customs. Green channel for nothing to declare, red channel for goods over duty-free limits.
