Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Bangladesh. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa on arrival
Immigration officers at Dhaka airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready to show.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Bangladesh. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you are arriving without a pre-arranged tour.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a recent bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration officers occasionally ask to see proof you can cover your stay.Recommended
Cash only at visa counter
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in cash (USD, EUR, or GBP). ATMs at the airport may not dispense foreign currency, and card payments are not accepted. Bring crisp, new banknotes — old or torn notes may be refused.
Visa on arrival is single-entry only
You cannot leave Bangladesh and re-enter on the same visa. If you plan to visit neighboring countries and return, you'll need a multiple-entry visa from a Bangladeshi embassy before you travel.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the visa-on-arrival counter
After landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' before the immigration counters. The counter is usually on the left side of the arrivals hall.
2
Submit your documents and pay the fee
Hand over your passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation. The officer will check everything and tell you the fee. Pay in cash (USD, EUR, or GBP). Keep the receipt.
3
