Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the full 30 days you plan to stay in Belarus. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Belarusian law, but some airlines may ask for 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Immigration at Minsk National Airport routinely asks for a confirmed return or onward ticket within your 30-day visa-free window. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officers may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a notarized invitation from a Belarusian host covers this. Keep a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Belarus can ask for proof of at least €50 per day of stay. A recent bank statement or a credit card with a decent limit usually satisfies the officer. I've never been asked, but better to have it.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Belarus. If it expires sooner, you will be denied entry at the border. No exceptions.
Keep a return ticket handy
Immigration officers at Minsk National Airport and land borders often ask to see your return or onward ticket. Have a screenshot saved on your phone to avoid delays.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you travel, check your passport validity (6+ months from entry), print or screenshot your return ticket and first night accommodation confirmation. Also get travel insurance and a local SIM or eSIM.
2
Arrive at Minsk National Airport or land border
At Minsk National Airport (MSQ), follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for non-Belarusian passports. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport and you're in.
3
Complete immigration formalities
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). Answer honestly. You'll get an entry stamp valid for up to 30 days.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, collect your bags from the carousel and walk through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're now in Belarus.
