Estonian passport holders need an eVisa to travel to Cuba in 2026. The eVisa is straightforward to obtain online, but you must have it approved before you travel. Plan ahead to avoid last-minute issues.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Cuban tourist eVisa at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport — immigration at Havana Airport will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Estonian passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cuba. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Cuban law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Cuban immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at passport control. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone. Without one, you may be denied entry and put on the next flight out.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel or casa booking
Immigration may ask where you're staying. Have a printed hotel confirmation or casa particular booking ready. If you're staying with a friend, get their address and phone number written down — officers sometimes call to verify.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Carry at least €50–€100 per day in cash (euros or US dollars) or a debit/credit card that works in Cuba. ATMs are scarce and unreliable outside Havana. Immigration rarely checks, but having cash avoids problems if asked.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — apply early
You cannot board your flight to Cuba without an approved eVisa. Apply at least a week in advance. Last-minute applications may not be processed in time.
Cash is king in Cuba
Credit and debit cards from US banks rarely work. Bring euros or Canadian dollars in cash. Exchange at official CADECA offices for the best rates. Avoid exchanging at the airport — rates are worse.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cuban eVisa website (or your airline's recommended portal). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Pay the fee (typically around $30-50 USD) and submit. You'll usually get approval within a few days by email.
2
Prepare your documents
Print or save digital copies of your eVisa approval, return ticket, accommodation booking, and passport info page. Keep them in a folder on your phone or in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at Havana Airport (or other entry point)
At immigration, present your passport and the eVisa approval. The officer will stamp your passport. They may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details, so have them ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually a quick baggage scan. You're free to leave after that.
