Estonian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Nigeria in 2026. The process is entirely online — you apply before you travel and receive an approval letter to present on arrival.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Nigeria eVisa
Apply for your Nigeria eVisa at the Nigeria Immigration Service portal before you travel. The online form asks for your passport details, travel dates, and a digital photo — processing usually takes 3 to 5 business days. Print the eVisa approval letter and carry it with your passport to present at immigration in Lagos or Abuja.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Estonian passport must be valid for at least the full length of your stay in Nigeria. Airlines at Tallinn and connecting hubs will check this before you board — if your passport expires before you leave Nigeria, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Nigeria
Immigration officers at Lagos and Abuja routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Without one, you risk being refused entry and sent back on the next flight. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Nigeria. Immigration may ask where you are staying, and having a clear address speeds up the process.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to show you have enough money for your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to demonstrate at least $100 per day of your trip.Recommended
eVisa required before travel
There is no visa-on-arrival for Estonian passport holders. You must apply and receive approval through the Nigeria Immigration Service portal before you fly. Without it, you will be denied boarding or entry.
Yellow fever vaccination required
All travelers to Nigeria must show proof of yellow fever vaccination. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel and carry your yellow card with your passport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to portal.immigration.gov.ng, create an account, fill in your details, upload your passport scan and photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes a few business days.
2
Receive your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get an eVisa approval letter by email. Print it or save a copy on your phone — you'll need it at the airport in Nigeria.
3
Arrive at a Nigerian airport
At Lagos (LOS), Abuja (ABV), or Port Harcourt (PHC), go to the 'Visa on Arrival' desk. Present your passport and eVisa approval letter. The officer will take your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) and stamp your passport.
4
Proceed to immigration control
After the visa desk, join the regular immigration queue. Have your passport, boarding pass, and return ticket ready. Answer any questions about your stay — be clear about your hotel and departure date.
