Estonian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Russia in 2026. The eVisa is valid for a single entry and allows stays of up to 16 days. You must apply online before you travel.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Russia eVisa
Apply for a Russian eVisa at the official portal before travel. The eVisa allows a single entry for up to 16 days. Processing takes up to 4 calendar days — do not apply more than 40 days before your trip.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Estonian passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Russia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket showing you leave Russia within the eVisa's 16-day validity. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they may scan the barcode.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
Border officers may ask for a hotel reservation or a Russian-issued invitation (voucher) covering your entire stay. A printed booking confirmation with your name and dates works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
You should carry at least 500 EUR (or equivalent in rubles) per day of stay. Officers rarely check this for short eVisa trips, but having a bank statement or cash avoids delays.Recommended
eVisa is single entry only
The eVisa allows only one entry. If you leave Russia (even to a neighboring country), you cannot re-enter with the same eVisa. You would need to apply for a new one.
Keep your registration slip
If you stay more than 7 days, your hotel or host must register you. You'll get a small slip. Keep it with your passport — you may be asked for it when leaving Russia.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Russian eVisa website (evisa.kdmid.ru). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a digital photo. Pay the fee (if any) and submit. Processing usually takes 4–7 days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll receive the eVisa by email. Print a copy and save a screenshot on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at passport control.
3
Arrive in Russia and go through immigration
At the airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer may ask for your accommodation address. They'll stamp your passport with your entry date.
4
Register your stay (if staying more than 7 days)
If you're staying longer than 7 days, your hotel or host must register you with the local migration office within 7 days of arrival. If you're in a private apartment, the host handles this. Keep the registration slip — you may need it when leaving.
