Estonian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda for tourism or business. The process is entirely online and straightforward — you apply before you travel and receive an approval letter by email. As of 2026, the eVisa is valid for a single entry and typically allows stays of up to 90 days.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Uganda eVisa
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal before departure. Processing takes 2–5 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email. Print that letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will ask to see it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay
Your Estonian passport needs at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps. Uganda enforces the 6-month validity rule strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Uganda
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket at Entebbe Airport. A flight booking or bus ticket out of Uganda works — just have a copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash (around $200–$300 USD) to show you can cover your stay. Uganda doesn't have a fixed minimum, but officers may ask at entry.Recommended
Apply early — processing can be slow
The eVisa system is reliable, but processing times vary. Don't leave it until the last minute. Apply at least 7–10 days before your flight to avoid stress.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport, and flight tickets as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose your printed copy, you can still show the digital version at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, create an account, fill in the application form, upload your passport photo and passport data page, pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa), and submit. Processing usually takes 3–5 working days, but can be faster.
2
Receive and print the approval letter
Once approved, you'll get an email with a PDF approval letter. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
Most flights from Europe land at Entebbe. After deplaning, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Visa on Arrival' (even though you have an eVisa). Join the queue for 'eVisa holders' — it's usually shorter than the regular line. Present your passport, approval letter, and return ticket. You'll be asked to look at a camera for a photo and fingerprints. The officer stamps your passport — you're in.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually a quick bag scan. Exit into the arrivals hall where drivers and hotel reps wait.
