Egyptian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Bhutan. You must get it approved before boarding your flight. As of 2026, this is the only way to get a tourist visa.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Bhutan e-Permit
Apply for the Bhutan e-Permit at bhutan.travel/e-permit before travel. This is mandatory for all foreign visitors — you cannot board your flight without an approved permit. Processing takes 3–5 business days, and you'll need a confirmed tour itinerary from a licensed Bhutanese tour operator.Apply for e-PermitRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Bhutan. Airlines at Cairo and connecting hubs (Doha, Dubai, Bangkok) enforce this strictly — they will deny boarding if your passport expires sooner.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Bhutan
Immigration at Paro Airport asks to see a confirmed onward or return ticket. This is standard for all visitors — have your flight booking ready on your phone or printed.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or tour itinerary
Bhutan requires all tourists to book through a licensed tour operator who arranges accommodation. Your e-Permit application includes your hotel details — carry a copy of your confirmed itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Daily minimum spend requirement
Bhutan enforces a minimum daily package rate of $200–$250 USD per person (depending on season), which covers accommodation, meals, guide, and transport. Your tour operator handles this — just have proof of payment ready.Recommended
eVisa required — no visa on arrival
Egyptian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Bhutan. You must apply for and receive an eVisa before you travel. Without it, you will be denied boarding.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Bhutan, not from your departure date. Check your expiry date before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online

2
Receive approval letter
Once approved, you'll get an eVisa approval letter by email. Print a copy and keep it with your passport. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at Paro International Airport
At Paro Airport, go to the immigration counter. Present your passport, printed eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 10–15 minutes.
