Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for a DR Congo eVisa at visa.gouv.cd at least 2 weeks before departure. The eVisa is a single-entry permit valid for up to 90 days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at N'djili Airport (FIH) will stamp it on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your Egyptian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from DR Congo. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of exit from DR Congo
Immigration officers at N'djili Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready. Without one, you may be refused entry and placed on the next flight out.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in DR Congo. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having a clear address and contact number avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have cash (USD is widely accepted) or a bank statement showing at least $500 for a short stay. Immigration officers occasionally ask how you will fund your trip — a quick answer with evidence works best.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you can be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot at your own expense. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport scan, return ticket, and hotel booking as PDFs on your phone. Internet can be patchy, so download them before you arrive. A printed backup is even better.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visa.gouv.cd, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50–$100 depending on processing speed). You'll get a confirmation email within a few days.
2
Pack your documents
Print or save on your phone: the eVisa approval email, your passport, return ticket, hotel booking, and insurance certificate. Keep them in a folder you can grab quickly.
3
Arrive at the airport
At Kinshasa (FIH) or Lubumbashi (FBM), go to the immigration counter. Hand over your passport and eVisa approval. The officer will check your documents and stamp you in. Expect a short wait — queues can be slow.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. You may be asked to show your yellow fever vaccination card at customs. Then you're free to leave the airport.
