Valid passport
Must cover your full stay
At least 6 months validity beyond your entry date. Minimum 1 blank page for the entry stamp. Airlines may deny boarding if validity is too close.Required
Return or onward ticket
Officers check this regularly
A confirmed flight out of the country. Immigration may ask to see this — have a screenshot ready on your phone. An onward ticket from a neighbouring country also works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel name or address
A hotel booking confirmation, or the address of where you are staying. The arrival form often asks for this. A Booking.com or Airbnb confirmation email is fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Rarely checked
Immigration officers may ask you to demonstrate sufficient funds for your stay. A credit card or bank statement usually suffices.Recommended
Apply well in advance
Irish visa processing can take 4–8 weeks, and delays are common. Do not book non-refundable flights or hotels until your visa is approved.
No visa on arrival
There is no visa-on-arrival or eTA for Egyptian passport holders. You must have a visa sticker in your passport before you board your flight to Ireland.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the visa online
Go to the Irish visa application website (AVATS), fill out the form, pay the fee (around €80 for a single-entry visa), and book an appointment at the nearest Irish embassy or visa application centre (e.g., in Cairo).
2
Submit documents in person
Attend your appointment with your printed application, passport, photos, flight and hotel bookings, bank statements, and any other supporting documents. Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) will be taken.
3
Wait for processing
Standard processing takes 4–8 weeks. Check the embassy website for current timelines. You'll receive a decision by email or post.
4
Collect your passport with visa
Once approved, collect your passport from the visa application centre or have it couriered. The visa sticker will be inside.
5
Arrive in Ireland
At Dublin Airport or another port of entry, join the 'Non-EU' queue. Present your passport with the visa sticker, and be ready to show your return ticket and accommodation details if asked.
