Apply before travel
Egyptian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Oman. Apply on the Royal Oman Police eVisa portal at evisa.rop.gov.om. Processing usually takes 1–3 business days, and you receive the approved visa by email.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Oman. Carry a copy of the bio-data page separately in case of loss.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers in Oman routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward flight ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
While not always checked, having a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host speeds up the immigration process. Keep a printed copy or have it accessible on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers may ask for evidence of sufficient funds for your stay. Carry a recent bank statement or a credit card with a visible limit — around 500 OMR per week is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Oman, not from when you apply for the visa. If your passport expires sooner, renew it first.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, passport photo, and flight/hotel confirmations on your phone and email. If you lose the printout, you can show the digital version at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the Royal Oman Police eVisa website (evisa.rop.gov.om). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a passport-style photo and a copy of your passport data page. Pay the fee (around 20 OMR for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 1–3 business days, but apply at least a week early.
2
Print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF via email. Print at least one copy and save a digital version on your phone. You'll need to show this at the airline check-in counter and at Omani immigration.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
Before heading to the airport, gather: your passport (6+ months validity), printed eVisa, return/onward ticket, and first night accommodation confirmation. Keep them in an easily accessible folder.
4
Arrive at Muscat International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (not 'GCC Nationals'). Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket if asked. The officer may ask your purpose of visit and where you're staying. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp allowing entry for up to 30 days.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall where you can buy a local SIM, exchange money, or arrange a taxi.

Frequently asked questions

No. Egyptian passport holders are not eligible for a visa on arrival. You must obtain an eVisa before traveling. Apply online at evisa.rop.gov.om at least a week before your trip.
A single-entry tourist eVisa costs around 20 OMR (about 50 USD). Fees are paid online by credit or debit card during the application. Double-entry and multiple-entry options cost more.
Most applications are processed within 1–3 business days. However, it's wise to apply at least a week before your departure to account for any delays or requests for additional documents.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or if there are errors in your application. You can reapply with corrected information. There's no official appeal process, but you can contact the Royal Oman Police visa support for guidance.
No, the eVisa is not extendable. You must leave Oman before your visa expires. Overstaying can result in fines. If you need more time, you'd need to exit and re-enter with a new visa.
If you're transiting and not entering Oman, you generally don't need a return ticket. But if you're entering the country (even for a short stay), you must have a confirmed onward or return ticket.
Travel insurance is not officially required for the eVisa application, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs in Oman can be high, and insurance covers emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage.
