Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Pakistan eVisa at visa.nadra.gov.pk. Processing takes 7–10 working days for most nationalities. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Islamabad and Karachi will ask for both.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid on arrival
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Pakistan. Airlines at Cairo check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration at all Pakistani airports requires a confirmed onward or return ticket. A printed itinerary or e-ticket works — they rarely check the booking code, but the flight must be real and within your visa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter from your host in Pakistan ready. Immigration officers at Karachi and Lahore sometimes ask for it — a printed booking page with the hotel name and address is enough.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing at least $500 USD equivalent. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, a printed statement from your bank or a screenshot of your mobile banking app works.Recommended
eVisa only — no visa on arrival
Egyptian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Pakistan. You must apply and receive your eVisa before you fly. Without it, you will be denied boarding.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, passport bio page, and return ticket as screenshots on your phone. If you lose your printed copies, digital versions can save you at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Pakistan eVisa portal (visa.nadra.gov.pk). Fill in your personal details, upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a recent passport-sized photo. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 working days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa PDF. Print two copies — one to carry with your passport, one as a backup. Also save a digital copy on your phone.
3
Arrive at a Pakistani airport
At immigration, present your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. Major entry points include Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar airports.
4
Register with the local police (if staying long-term)
If you plan to stay more than 30 days, you must register with the local police station within 7 days of arrival. Your hotel or host can help with this.
