Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Togo eVisa at evisa.gouv.tg at least 3 business days before departure. The eVisa is valid for 15 days and costs 10,000 CFA francs (about $17 USD). Print the approval letter — immigration at Lomé Airport will ask to see it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Togo. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Togo
Immigration at Lomé Airport routinely asks for a return or onward ticket showing you leave Togo within your eVisa validity. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Have at least 200,000 CFA francs (about $330 USD) in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. Immigration may ask how you plan to support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory
You must show your yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport — which costs time and money.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, passport, ticket, and hotel booking as PDFs on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose the printouts, you can still show them on your phone.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50–$80 depending on processing speed). You'll get a confirmation email within a few days.
2
Print your eVisa and pack documents
Once approved, print the eVisa letter. Also print or save on your phone: your return ticket, hotel booking, and insurance certificate. Keep them together in a folder.
3
Arrive at Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW)
After landing, go to immigration. Hand over your passport, eVisa printout, and boarding pass. They'll stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check — just walk through the green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're in Togo.
