Egyptian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda. The process is entirely online — you apply before you travel, and approval arrives by email. As of 2026, the eVisa is the standard entry method, allowing stays up to 90 days.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Uganda eVisa
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal before travel. Processing takes 2–3 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email. Print the letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Uganda. Airlines at Cairo and Entebbe enforce this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Entebbe routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight itinerary ready — if you can't show one, they may deny entry or put you on the next flight out.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask where you're staying, and having a booking speeds up the process at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to show you have enough money for your stay. Uganda doesn't publish a fixed amount, but around $200–$300 USD in cash or available credit is a safe benchmark.Recommended
eVisa is the standard route
The Uganda eVisa is straightforward and accepted at all entry points. Apply online before you travel — it saves time and hassle at the airport.
Passport validity is strict
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Uganda. If it's close to expiring, renew it before applying for the eVisa.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, fill in the application, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page, and pay the fee (around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email.
2
Prepare your documents
Print or save on your phone: the eVisa approval email, your return ticket, and your first night's hotel booking. Also have your passport ready with at least 6 months validity and one blank page.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport (or land border)
At Entebbe, follow signs to 'Immigration' after baggage claim. Present your passport, eVisa printout (or digital copy), and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The process usually takes 10–20 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel, then walk through customs (usually a green channel for most tourists). You're in.
